The Indonesian national youth football team, affectionately known as the Garuda Muda, faced off against Uzbekistan in a highly anticipated match. Unfortunately, despite their valiant efforts, they were defeated with a score of 0-2. This loss means that Indonesia will not advance to the final match.


The game was filled with intense moments as both teams fought hard to gain control of the ball. However, Uzbekistan managed to secure two goals, putting them in the lead. Despite numerous attempts by the Garuda Muda to equalize, they were unable to find the back of the net.

The encounter between Indonesia and Uzbekistan took place at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in the semi-final stage of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup on Monday night (29/4/2024) WIB (Western Indonesia Time). Neither team managed to score a goal in the first half.


Muhammad Ferrari appeared to score a goal in the 61st minute. However, his goal was disallowed due to Ramadan Sananta being in an offside position.


Uzbekistan managed to break the deadlock in the 68th minute, with substitute player Norchaev Khusayin finding the net against Indonesia's defense.


Indonesia faced another setback in the 83rd minute when Rizky Ridho received a red card. Uzbekistan capitalized on the numerical advantage and added another goal in the 87th minute through an own goal by Pratama Arhan.


This outcome secures Uzbekistan's spot in the final and guarantees them a ticket to the 2024 Olympics. Meanwhile, Indonesia will still compete for the third-place title in hopes of qualifying for Paris.


The Course of the Match


Uzbekistan started the game with high pressure right from the beginning. Abbosbek Fayzullaev attempted a long-range shot in the fifth minute, but it sailed over the crossbar.


Uzbekistan had a chance in the 14th minute when Ulugbek Khoshimov's shot from inside the penalty box was blocked by Ernando Ari.


Uzbekistan made several attempts at attacking, but their efforts still missed the target of Ernando Ari Sutaryadi's goal. Throughout the first 20 minutes, there were hardly any significant threats. Both teams were still trying to find openings to penetrate each other's defenses.


In the 27th minute, Witan Sulaeman was brought down by Abduvohid Ne'matov near the penalty box. The referee then checked VAR, but didn't deem it a foul inside the penalty area. Indonesia missed out on a penalty opportunity.


Later on, Uzbekistan continued to pose a threat. Abdurauf Bo'riyev's shot in the 30th minute almost found the net if it hadn't hit the crossbar of Ernando Ari Sutaryadi's goal. The score remained 0-0 until halftime.


In the second half, Uzbekistan's pressure continued unabated. However, Indonesia managed to score in the 61st minute.


It started with a cross from the right side, reaching Ramadhan Sananta, who engaged in a duel with the Uzbekistan goalkeeper. Sananta then managed to pass the loose ball to Ferrari beside him, who kicked it into the net.


The referee then consulted VAR as there was an indication of offside. Eventually, Sananta was caught slightly offside on camera while receiving the cross, leading to the disallowance of the goal.


GOAL! It was Uzbekistan who managed to score in the 69th minute. Norchaev Khusain successfully found the net against Indonesia.


Norchaev pounced on a cross from Mukhammadkodir Khamraliev. Uzbekistan took the lead 1-0.


Uzbekistan almost added another goal in the 71st minute when Abbosbek Fayzullaev's shot hit the goalpost.


Nurchaev threatened Indonesia's goal again in the 78th minute with a header inside the penalty box that hit the crossbar.


RED CARD! Indonesia had to play with 10 players in the 83rd minute. Rizky Ridho received a red card for a foul on Jasurbek Jaloliddinov.


GOAL! Uzbekistan doubled their lead four minutes later. Pratama Arhan scored an own goal after misjudging a loose ball inside the penalty box.


Indonesia failed to narrow the gap until the final whistle blew. The match ended with Uzbekistan winning 2-0.
